Studying at 221B (v. 3)
A post-case lull is the perfect time to catch up on some hard-earned relaxation. Or at least it would be, if you didn't have all this Physics homework to get through.
John told you to sit at his desk ("You'll hurt your back all hunched up like that in the armchair- no, come on, sit here-") while he reads on the sofa. Sherlock is sitting across from you, reading a dusty volume which he describes as being about 'studies on blood congealment in different environments and...other things'. He's busy reading and taking notes, but he still has time to answer the odd question on electrostatic forces, or to give you a sharp look when he catches you zoning out and staring at the crackling fire.
Every once in a while, John will get up to fetch another book, or to make another cup of tea. Other than that, however, the hours pass by productively, until you can close your textbook with a sigh of relief.
(This appears to have become a series of slightly different scenarios because once I get bored of one ambience I fiddle with it to create another! The orientation here, in case it wasn't clear, is that you're sitting at John's desk with Sherlock across from you. The windows are to your right, so that's where the street sounds come from. The fire is in front of you to the left, and John is behind you to the left, sitting on the sofa along the wall. Every once in a while, he'll turn a page or walk around.)
